The defence ministry in New Delhi has requested clearance to build additional ammunition storage capacity in Ladakh to enhance ammunition availability for military units during operational deployment. The plans focus on forward regions in Eastern Ladakh near the border with China, where clashes between Indian and Chinese troops have occurred. Proposals also include strengthening presence in strategic locations such as Lukung and Durbuk.
