Russia shifts more funds to military in budget draft

The Russian government plans to reallocate 7 trillion roubles in its budget draft, with a significant portion earmarked for the military, reaching 13.5 trillion roubles in 2025, the highest level since the Cold War. This move, doubling defence spending compared to social spending, comes amidst 900 amendments to the draft, many focused on national security and the ongoing military action in Ukraine. The government has the flexibility to shift funds within the total 41.5 trillion roubles expenditure as the draft progresses through parliament.
