INS Tushil, the first of two stealth frigates being built in Russia, is set to be commissioned in December, following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine conflict, and western sanctions. India and Russia signed an agreement in 2016 to construct four stealth frigates, with two being built in Russia and the remaining two in India by the Goa Shipyard Limited. The second Russian-made ship, ‘Tamal’, is expected to follow ‘Tushil’ in completion.
