The United States called for an end to the Israel-Hezbollah war and urged the enforcement of a UN resolution requiring Hezbollah to withdraw from south Lebanon. US envoy Amos Hochstein met with Hezbollah ally Nabih Berri in Lebanon to push for peace, emphasizing that tying Lebanon’s future to regional conflicts is not in the interest of the Lebanese people. Hochstein also noted that parties have not fully implemented UN resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war, as Hezbollah has continued to remain in south Lebanon and launch cross-border strikes into Israel.
