The Home Office has reported a “milestone” with over 100 migrants returned to France under the government’s ‘one in, one out’ scheme aimed at deterring dangerous Channel crossings. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced that 113 individuals have been deported in two months, while 84 have arrived legally in exchange. Despite this, over 8,000 migrants have still crossed the Channel since the scheme began. Critics argue the low return rate undermines its deterrent effect amid ongoing illegal crossings.
