1.3 billion passwords exposed in cyber breach

An unprecedented data breach has resulted in the exposure of approximately 1.3 billion passwords and 2 billion email addresses, according to Have I Been Pwned (HIBP). CEO Troy Hunt emphasized the urgency for affected individuals to change their passwords, as this leak is nearly three times larger than any previous incidents. The data originated from malware known as infostealers, which captured login information. Users can check if their accounts were compromised through HIBP’s free service.
